The term ‘ more able and talented’ includes learners who are more able across subjects within the curriculum as well as those who show talent in one or more specific areas, which could include practical, creative and social fields.
At Cwmfelinfach primary school, we are proud members of NACE which is a independent charity founded over 35 years ago, the National Association for Able Children in Education (NACE) works with member schools, education leaders and practitioners to improve provision for more able learners, driving whole-school improvement and raising achievement for all.
At Cwmfelinfach we work closely with NACE, following their guidelines in order to continuously stretch and challenge our more able pupils. We have adopted elements of NACE's core principles in our MAT policy, which you can see in the policy section of our website!
Staff have contributed to a set of identification criteria that can be used to assess a pupils' eligibility to be included onto the MAT register. We use this along with parent feedback and teacher assessment to identify pupils who are MAT. If you feel your child excels at anything, please let the school or Mr Evans know so we can assess the pupil’s eligibility to be included on the register. It will be our job then as educators to make sure your child is challenged and pushed where possible.
